I had him with me all day yesterday, he slept in my bed last night, and this morning around 11 I put him outside for most of the day. When I returned home (around 6:30) I let him inside and noticed a very swollen abscess on the side of his neck and face. I’m not exactly Sure what to think.

I’ve really looked at it.

He has no signs of a bite, a scratch, or a prick. 

No pain when it’s touched,

and it’s not very hard.



The location of this lump is what scares me. Along with the size, and the progression of it’s swelling.

It’s located on the side of the neck and bottom of the face, towards the back of his jaw.

It’s about a golf ball size abscess that has formed within 7 hours at most.



I can’t make him a vet apt until tomorrow morning,and because he is not in pain and is able to eat and breath, don’t find it necessary to take him to the emergency room.



I’m not going to lie. I’m quite distressed about it. I’ve been searching on the internet and it seems to me that its a swollen lymph node. Which only means two things. : cancer or infection. 

I’ve given him some benedryl in hopes that the swelling improves (if the benedryl helps, it’s most likely an allergic reaction or a bug bite of some sort), if the swelling does not go down, then it can be a very serious issue.



I’m going to post a picture on here so you all can see. Please keep your thought out for me tonight. Shakespeare is my best friend in the whole world and seeing him like this has me VERY worried.
